Sebastian Rojas Gonzalez obtained a degree in Industrial Systems Engineering from the Costa Rica Institute of Technology in 2012, where he also received training in Astronomy and Astrophysics. In 2016 he obtained a M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from the Harbin Institute of Technology in Harbin, China. In 2016 he moved to the Department of Decision Sciences of KU Leuven, Belgium, to work on a PhD in multiobjective simulation optimization. His research work is centered on developing stochastic optimization algorithms assisted by machine learning techniques for multi-criteria decision making. In 2020 Sebastian obtained an FWO Post-doctoral Fellowship, and is jointly working with the Department of Information Technology at Gent University (BE), the Data Science Institute at University of Hasselt (BE), and the Department of Operations at The University of Warwick (UK).
