Dirk Deschrijver was born on Sept 26th 1981 in Tielt, Belgium. He received the Bachelor degree (kandidaat) and the Master degree (licentiaat) in Computer Science in 2001 and 2003 respectively, from the University of Antwerp, Belgium. Since then, he worked as a PhD student in the Dept. of Mathematics and Computer Science at the same university, where he obtained the PhD degree in 2007. During the period of May-October 2005, he was a Marie Curie Fellow in the Scientific Computing group at the Eindhoven University of Technology in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. In 2006 and 2008, he was also a visiting researcher at SINTEF Energy Research in Trondheim, Norway. His research was mainly focused on the macromodeling of high-speed and high-frequency interconnects, signal integrity and electromagnetic compatibility.
He is currently working as an FWO post-doctoral research fellow in the IBCN research group of the Dept. of Information Technology (INTEC) in the Faculty of Engineering at Ghent University, Belgium. He is currently working on scientific computing, modeling, simulation, optimization, design of experiments, sensitivity analysis and machine learning algorithms.
